Carly Russell
Background:
I have been a mover for most of my life. As a competitive Irish Dancer growing up I was exposed to so many people dancing as well as injuring. I got curious about the healing side of things and became a Physiotherapy Assistant in 2006 and have worked in the public and private physiotherapy setting since. In 2012, I was first introduced to Classical Pilates when I started working with Noam Gagnon. Not only did I experience the amazing benefits of pilates in my own body with less pain and better function but I also witnessed the potential there was and kept wanting to learn and practice more. In 2020, at 9 months postpartum, I started my first Comprehensive Training with Noam Gagnon’s Beyond Pilates Teacher Training Program at The Pilates Collective. With over 900 hours of education, lessons, observing and teaching practice I graduated in 2022 and have been teaching at The Pilates Collective.
What to expect during a session:
Breath and movement.
What I’ve learned from Contrology:
I have learned that Contrology is about cultivating strength through many avenues. Yes, it feels good to get physically stronger but I have also discovered the strength of dedication, the strength of moving from the center and the strength that exists outside of the studio. Living day to day with more confidence and the ability to adapt to my environment. Not only moving from the center, but living from it.
